The Outback Arthouse was a six week residency that included a public exhibition and a series of events. Working with over 70 students from Havering Sixth Form College and the Havering College of Further and Higher Education, Made Public transformed the former ‘Out Back Steak House’ restaurant into a collaborative art space run by the students themselves.

Through a series of workshops Made Public helped the students to transform the space into something quite breathtaking that still carried elements of it’s past – exhibition and event guides were designed in the style of menus and students donned waiter and waitress outfits to act as gallery guides. The opening night proved very popular – with over 600 people in attendance – as did the following events, including After Hours Projector, Golden Bohemian and Self Service.
