Made Public invited students from Havering College of Further and Higher Education, Redbridge College and Havering Sixth Form College to revolutionise a local shopping centre for Arcade Remade. A total of 150 students from the three colleges pitched in to help with the revitalisation of the Quadrant, a 1930s shopping arcade in the heart of Romford.
Nine independent businesses collaborated with the enthusiastic students to rejuvenate the Quadrant and transform it into an exciting cultural hub for the local community. The project resulted in transformational projects such as the re-naming of the Seahorse Fish Bar, the re-branding of Meat Express and the launch of many start-up creative businesses including the Vault, Synergy Media, AmisStar Vocal Studios and Workshop, the first of their kind in Romford’s town centre.
With Arcade Remade Made Public aimed to not only support local independent businesses, but also to inspire young people, encourage them to get involved in the arts and take pride in their local area.
